Coloradans For Peace is saddened and alarmed at the horrific attack by Israel forces on the humanitarian aid convoy which was trying to break the siege of Gaza. The overnight raid by Israeli commandos resulted in the deaths of up to 15 unarmed civilians and the injury of around 30 on a passenger ship which carried 600 international activists, politicians and journalists. Spontaneous demonstrations are forming word wide.

Here’s another chance to help Colorado Springs take the high road. On Tuesday the City Council will review the planned homeless camping ban before ratifying it. Do they need a refresher course on Christian values? Give the homeless a hand, not the boot.

Come to the front steps of City Hall, 107 N. Nevada on Tuesday February 23 at NOON. Let’s show our city representatives that Colorado Springs would prefer to help the less fortunate, not lock them away.

On the anniversary of Israel’s 2008 attack of Gaza, respond to international calls for Boycott – Divestment – Sanctions of Israel’s occupation of Palestine, by making our fellow Americans aware of the US businesses which support the illegal settlement of lands and the immoral segregation of native peoples. Join us Monday – Thursday DEC 28-31 at noon to picket certain retail stores of the Chapel Hills Mall and the consumer goods which finance Israel’s continuing oppression of the Palestinians. Or contact us about filling a 30-minute shift, between 12-5pm on those days.

At the CHAPEL HILLS MALL we can focus on L’Oreal, Revlon, Estee Lauder, Ahava, Hanes, Timberland, Teva, Victoria’s Secret, and Bath & Body Works.

December 29 can be the date to kickoff a picketing action, but the awareness campaign can begin throughout the holiday shopping season with A) the distribution of fliers to explain the particular business’s involvement in the occupied territories, and B) letters sent to the retail outlets to solicit their pledge to renounce their participation in Israel’s illegal actions.
